Hello! I hope everyone's year is off to a great start! January flew by, and I can't believe we're already in February.
February is National Cancer Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, promote early detection, and support those impacted by this disease. February 4th was also World Cancer Day. I've been thinking a lot about how important it is to spread awareness about cancer prevention. Even small lifestyle changes—like eating healthier, staying active, and getting regular check-ups—can make a huge difference. Knowledge is power.
Looking back on my father's journey, I'm constantly reminded of his incredible strength and kindness. Even while fighting his own battle, he was always there for others. That's also why volunteering is such a huge part of my life. Last month, I continued volunteering at a home for Alzheimer's and dementia patients, and every visit reminded me just how powerful human connection can be. Now, I'm about to start a six-month commitment at Emanuel Hospital, supporting post-surgery recovery patients, and I couldn't be more excited.
Lastly, February is all about finding balance for me between school, volunteering, and taking care of myself. It's about staying close to the people who lift me up and learning from every experience, even the tough ones.
